
NEET Entrance Exam
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a national-level medical entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other medical courses in government and private colleges across India. It is the only entrance exam for medical aspirants and is a crucial step toward securing a seat in top medical institutions.
NEET is a highly competitive exam that tests candidates in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, with questions based on the NCERT syllabus. A strong performance in NEET is essential for securing admission into prestigious institutions like AIIMS, JIPMER, and various state-level medical colleges.
1. Age Criteria
Minimum Age: Candidates must have completed 17 years as of December 31 of the year of admission.
Maximum Age: There is no upper age limit for appearing in NEET .
2. Educational Qualifications
Candidates must have completed Class 12 or equivalent with the following subjects:
- Mandatory Subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English.
- Minimum Percentage in Class 12 (Qualifying Exam):
- General Category: 50% aggregate in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology).
- OBC/SC/ST Categories: 40% aggregate in PCB.
- PWD Candidates: 45% aggregate in PCB.
3. Nationality
Eligible Candidates:
- Indian Nationals
- Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)
- Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs)
- Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs)
- Foreign Nationals
4. NEET Application Process
Candidates must register on the official NEET website ([neet.nta.nic.in](https://neet.nta.nic.in)) and fill out the online application form.
Upload required documents:
- Passport-sized photograph
- Signature
- Class 10 and 12 certificates (if available)
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- Valid ID proof
Application fees vary depending on the category:
- General: ₹1600 (subject to change based on official updates)
- OBC/EWS: ₹1500
- SC/ST/PwD: ₹900
Payment can be made online via credit/debit cards, net banking, or UPI.
5. Exam Pattern
Mode: Pen-and-paper (offline).
Duration: 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Subjects : Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany and Zoology).
Number of Questions: 200 questions (180 to be answered).
- Physics: 50 questions (45 to be answered)
- Chemistry: 50 questions (45 to be answered)
- Biology: 100 questions (90 to be answered)
Marking Scheme:
- +4 for each correct answer.
- -1 for each incorrect answer.
- 0 for unattempted questions.
Total Marks:720 marks.
6. Important Documents Required for Exam Day
NEET Admit Card (downloaded from the official website).
Passport-sized photograph (same as uploaded in the application form).
Valid ID proof (Aadhar card, passport, PAN card, etc.).
PwD certificate (if applicable).
